  • Objective To determine the sulfate content in sulfated fucans (FPS) by Barium sulfate turbidity. Methods With spectrophotometer at 360 nm, the sulfate content was determined by Barium Sulfate Turbidity. Results There was a good linearity (r2=0.990 9) when the sulfate content was within the range of 60~120 μg. Sulfate content of FPS was (20.52±0.57)% under the determination method.Methodology met the measurement requirement. Conclusion The method was proved to be reliable, quick, sensitive and applicable.
